Dr. Benjamin “Benjie” L. Pecayo is a registered Mechanical Engineer and has been serving as a member of the academic community of Northwest Samar State University for more than 30 years. He is a refutable professor, most particularly in teaching management and engineering subjects in undergraduate, master's, and doctorate courses. His steadfast and deep commitment had led him to numerous administrative positions as the dean of the College of Engineering, Vice-President for Research and Extension, and Vice-President for Administration in a concurrent capacity as Chief Administrative Officer, and spearheaded many projects of the University. Part of his personal achievements was the publication of three books in Power and Industrial Plant Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

In 2018, he was installed as the third University President of Northwest Samar State University and committed with passion to fulfilling the vision and mission of the University. After he started his term, the University was awarded different recognitions. Through his efforts, the Northwest Samar State University became ISO 9001:2015 Certified, Prime HRM Bronze Awardee, forged notable local and international linkages, participated in events abroad and established eleven infrastructure projects funded by providing our faculty, staff, students, stakeholders, and the industry the best University experience.

Just last October 2021, he was reappointed for another term as University President of Northwest Samar State University for 2022-2026. The whole NwSSU Community is hopeful for another prolific term under his administration.
