NwSSU Hosts Film Documentary
Workshop to Boost Region’s Film Industry

A workshop on Documentary Filmmaking was conducted last March 22-24, 2023, sponsored by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, NwSSU-ASCA, award-winning director Chito S. Roño, LGU Calbayog, Calbayog City Arts and Culture Office, and CALAO Writers Inc., held at the Business Development Center, NwSSU.

Representatives from secondary schools, seminaries, and organizations from LGUs in the area attended the aforementioned event. The internationally acclaimed and award-winning film director Ms. Baby Ruth Villarama was chosen by the NCCA-Speaker’s Bureau as the resource person.

The three-day workshop made the participants acquainted with the basic knowhow in film documentary production and they were able to produce film documentary outputs, which were presented on the last day.

Aside from the objective of fostering creative collaborations among various artists in the field of film documentary, the event was also a preparation for upcoming first Chito S. Roño Film Festival.
