By: Florabel C. Canaman
Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU) continues to deliver its commitment in helping the community of Brgy. Mawacat realize sustainable development. Towards this end, the College of Management (CoM) headed by its Dean, Dr. Leo Jesus M. Lacaba, successfully implemented back-to-back-to-back extension projects in the barangay. These where: the Feeding Program led by the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management Area; the Business Management Literacy Training led by the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Area; and the Community Tour Guiding Seminar Workshop led by the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management Area.
These projects were anchored on the result of the Participatory Rural Appraisal conducted by the Extension and Services Office of the University in the said barangay. With the collaborative efforts and support of the University, barangay officials, faculty and student extensionists, sponsors and other volunteers, these projects could not have been possible. Aside from these, the Learning to Livelihood Program Level 2: Livelihood Skills Training for Sewing and Baking is also set to take off this November and all of these activities are expected to be finished before the end of 2017.
We know that much is still to be done in the community but taking one step at a time would surely take us to where we are going. Move forward Mawacat!
