SSU-NwSSU launch 2nd International POVCON ’20; Dr Rodriguez wins Best Presenter
In order to showcase the best practices of local and international institutions and individuals in terms of crisis management, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development, Samar State University and Northwest Samar State University launched the 2nd International Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development (iPOVCON) last October 21-23, 2020.
Held via Zoom, the two leading institutions in Samar was able to gather more than 50 entries from across the country and abroad, with papers centering on Human Health Crisis and Management, Resources, Technology and Products for Crisis Management, Organization Preparedness and Response to Crisis, and Environmental Crisis and Management.
The iPOVCON 2020 was graced by no less than Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag and Dr. Prospero E. De Vera III, Commission on Higher Education’s Commissioner and Chairman, respectively; while Dr. Christoper Galloway, Dr. Anthony Halog, and Dr. De Phung Van served as keynote speakers.
NwSSU officials, Dr. Riz Rupert Ortiz, vice president for research,
extension and external affairs, and Dr. Catherine Rodriguez, extension services director, and DOST-recognized scientist Dr. Teodoro Amatosa served as panel evaluators of the said conference.
From among a number of presenters, Dr. Ervin Rodriguez was awarded as Best Oral Presenter with his paper titled ‘Development of Hybrid Data Analytics System for Universities’.
The iPOVCON 2020 left a challenge to everyone to continue developing newer and more innovative technologies, innovations and ideas in order to improve well-being and foster a sustainable future for the entire humanity.
