NwSSU, LGU-Calbayog Collab for Community Projects
Northwest Samar State University and the Local Government Unit of Calbayog forged collaboration as they plan to create projects that will give livelihood opportunities for Calbayognons using the Food Processing Equipment of the University.
The said plan was instigated after the City Mayor expressed his concern in front of NwSSU personnel on giving his constituents sustainable sources of income for them to cope with the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result, on August 06, 2020, NwSSU invited few of the best personnel of LGU to inspect and see the different equipment that it can extend to the LGU.
The projects that will be developed between NwSSU and LGU-Calbayog will potentially give two positive results. First, it will ensure financial sustainability among the beneficiaries, and second, it will help the university attract more external funding as the equipment are known to and used by the public.
It was also mentioned that the manual of operation of the Food Processing Shared Service Facility has been endorsed to the Board of Regents for approval and once approved, it will be used in the implementation of the project.
Currently, the collaborations and meetings are on-going as they are still coming up with the right sustainable projects for the community.
