The NwSSU Lamiraw Writers, a professional writers’ organization in Northwest Samar State University, conducted a Workshop on Creative Non-Fiction, held last September 21-22, 2019 at the Business Development Center Building, Main Campus, Calbayog City.
The objectives of the workshop were to (1) provide teachers and students of Samar the basic knowhow on the elements of Creative Non-Fiction, (2) raise the critical lens of writers in crafting this literary genre, and (3) promote Creative Non-Fiction (CNF) among young writers.
The resource persons were Professor Emeritus Merlie M. Alunan of the University of the Philippines System; Professor Firie Jill Ramos of the Katig Writers Network, Inc. and the UP Tacloban; and, Professor Yvonne Esperas of the Philippine Science High School (Eastern Visayas Campus).
The senior high teachers in the DepEd Division of Calbayog, faculty members of the NwSSU, staffers of The Courier – the official student publication of NwSSU, members of the Calbayog Literary Arts Organization (CALAO), and creative writing teachers of the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) participated in the said event.
